Abba Suleiman Wins 2026 KGC Captain’s Inaugural Tourney

Abba Suleiman from Katsina Golf Club emerged as the overall winner in category one at the 2026 Kano Golf Club (KGC) Captain’s Inaugural Tournament held in Kano. Suleiman, a 6.9-handicap player, recorded the best net score of 68 in the men's handicap 0-9 flight.

Audu Zaria from Zaria Golf Club was the runner-up with a net score of 73, while Salmanu Dalha from Katsina Golf Club achieved the best gross score of 76 in the same category. In the Ladies handicap 0-36 category, Rahama Inusa, a 13-handicap golfer from Kano Golf Club and a gold medalist at the 22nd National Sports Festival in May 2025, also returned a net score of 68, winning her category.

Lucy Monday from Zaria Golf Club was the runner-up with a net score of 80, and Lizzy Samuel from Tukur Yusuf Burutai International Golf Resort and Country Club, Abuja, had the best gross score of 87. Pastor Francis Bitrus, a 19-handicap player from the Nigerian Air Force Golf Club, Kano Base, recorded the best net score of 64 in the men's category three (20-28 handicap players), earning him a free return air ticket to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, donated by Saudi Airlines in partnership with Transblue Nigeria Limited.
