Sultan Abubakar Advocates Peaceful Islam at Mosque Inauguration

During the inauguration of an ultra-modern mosque in Osogbo, Nigeria, Sultan Sa'ad Abubakar, the President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, stated that a true Muslim should be an agent of peace and reconciliation. He highlighted the importance of understanding Islam as a means to build discipline and compassion among Muslims, transforming them into peacemakers rather than sources of conflict.

The event, which celebrated the 80th birthday of Asiwaju Khami Badmu, was attended by various Islamic leaders and traditional rulers, including Alhaji Rasak Oladejo of the Muslim Ummah of Southwest Nigeria and Sheik Abdulrahman Ahmad of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society. Sultan Abubakar noted that mosques should serve purposes beyond daily prayers, acting as centers for education, community development, and conflict resolution.

He lamented the decline of mosques to mere places of worship, urging the Muslim community to return to the original purposes of these institutions.
