Sultan Sokoto Advocates for Religious Tolerance in Nigeria

Sultan Sokoto Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar urged Muslims to embrace religious tolerance and act as agents of peace during a statement made available to journalists in Osogbo, Osun State. The statement coincided with the 80th birthday celebration of Asiwaju Khami Olatund Badmu, who is a representative of the Deputy President General of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in South Nigeria, Alhaji Rasaki Oladejo.

The Sultan highlighted that true religious understanding fosters discipline, compassion, and enlightenment among Muslims, which is essential for building peace rather than destruction. He encouraged Muslims to provide guidance to one another and to understand their religion properly.

The event also featured remarks from Grand Mufti Ilorin Emir Sheikh Faruq Onikijipa, who emphasized the importance of serving humanity and the accountability of the wealthy regarding their sources of wealth. The celebration included various attendees, including former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and other notable figures.
