Sultan of Sokoto Denies Plans Against Christians in Nigeria

During the first triannual meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) held in Abuja, Sultan of Sokoto, Sa'ad Abubakar, addressed concerns regarding the relationship between Muslims and Christians in Nigeria. He firmly stated that there are no plans by Muslims to drive out Christians from the country.

The Sultan emphasized the importance of affirming that Muslims do not intend to harm Christians or diminish their population in Nigeria. He called for a narrative that focuses on coexistence rather than religious identity, urging that criminal actions should not be attributed to religion.

He also highlighted the relevance of health issues, linking them to physical activity and mental health, and advocated for a united approach to address these challenges in the country.
