Sultan of Sokoto Denies Endorsing Tinubu for 2027

The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, issued a statement through his media aide, Prince Bashir Adefaka, denying reports that he endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election. The Sultan described these reports as false and misleading, asserting that he has no preferred candidate for the upcoming race.

He emphasized his role as a father to all Nigerians, regardless of political affiliation, and stated that making such an endorsement would contradict his longstanding non-partisan stance. The statement addressed the misinformation circulating on social media, which suggested that the Sultan had urged Nigerians to support Tinubu’s second-term bid.

He labeled the reports as malicious attempts to involve him in partisan politics for selfish interests.
