Kaduna DSS Arraigns Social Media Activist Sultan for Extortion Charges

The Department of State Services (DSS) in Kaduna State has arraigned social media activist Abubakar Muhammad, known as Sultan, on charges of extortion, criminal intimidation, and anonymous communication. The charges stem from a petition by Hafsat Yusuf Paki, accusing Sultan of threatening her through a fake social media account and demanding payment in cryptocurrency.

The prosecution revealed that investigations established a prima facie case of extortion and criminal intimidation, leading to Sultan pleading guilty. The DSS requested his remand in correctional custody, with the Magistrate setting bail at N1 million and imposing conditions for his release.
