Ogunmodede, Ilechukwu Retained for Turkey Friendlies

Daniel Ogunmodede and Fide Ilechukwu have been confirmed to retain their roles as assistant coaches for Nigeria's senior national football team. They are set to travel with the Super Eagles to Turkey for international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.

This decision comes amid increased scrutiny from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) regarding the technical committee and discussions about the head coach Eric Chell's need for experienced Nigerian assistants to complement the technical crew. Concerns have been raised about whether the current assistants possess the necessary experience for a head coach role, prompting a review of the backroom staff composition.

Ogunmodede recently obtained a UEFA B coaching license in Scotland and made history by guiding Remo Stars to their first-ever Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title last season. However, the club has struggled this campaign, leading to the appointment of former Super Eagles assistant coach Usman Abdallah as head coach.

Ilechukwu remains in charge of Enugu Rangers, who are currently among the leading contenders for the NPFL title this season.
