Super Eagles' Ndidi Confident Ahead of World Cup Play-Off

Wilfred Ndidi, the captain of the Super Eagles, stated that the team remains focused and ready for the upcoming 2026 World Cup play-off, despite uncertainties regarding Nigeria's qualification due to a complaint involving the eligibility of a Congolese player. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is awaiting a verdict from FIFA, which could significantly impact Nigeria's chances of qualifying for the tournament scheduled to take place in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The Super Eagles suffered a setback in November when they lost to the Democratic Republic of Congo in the African playoff final via penalties. The intercontinental play-off is set to run from March 26 to March 31, with Nigeria competing against six nations for the final two slots in the expanded global tournament.

Additionally, the NFF has scheduled a four-nation tournament during the March international window, where Nigeria is expected to face Iran on March 27 and Jordan on March 31 in Amman, although there are concerns about the games proceeding due to rising tensions in the Middle East.
