Super Falcons Face Malawi in WAFCON Title Defense

The Super Falcons of Nigeria, the reigning champions of the Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), are set to begin their title defense against the debuting Malawi Scorchers at the Al Medina Stadium in Rabat. The match is scheduled for tonight.

Last year, Nigeria secured the championship by defeating Morocco's Atlas Lionesses 3-2 in the final. The Scorchers, led by Coach Lovermore Fazili, have faced challenges in friendly matches, losing to Morocco and Ghana but drawing with Zambia and defeating Angola in their final qualifying match.

The Chawinga sisters, Tabitha and Temwa, are key players for Malawi. Head Coach Justine Madugu, who led Nigeria to success last summer, expressed respect for all teams in the tournament, stating that every opponent deserves recognition.

The Super Falcons will be captained by Rasheedat Ajibade and feature notable players such as Chiamaka Nnadozie and Asisat Oshoala. The team is fully prepared for the match, aiming to stick to their game plan.
