Supreme Court Ruling Resolves PDP Crisis, Says Wike

On Thursday, Nyesom Wike, a minister from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), stated that the Supreme Court's judgment nullifying the PDP convention in Ibadan has effectively ended the internal crisis within the party. Wike emphasized that the ruling has laid to rest disputes regarding parallel leadership structures within the PDP, dismissing any insinuations about the legitimacy of the party's current leadership.

The Supreme Court's decision upheld the legitimacy of the party's convention and dismissed appeals from aggrieved groups attempting to overturn the outcome. Wike stressed the need for political actors to operate strictly within the framework of the law and warned against actions that could undermine the party's constitution and electoral regulations.

He also addressed the issue of defections during the crisis, describing them as politically insignificant. Wike expressed confidence that the PDP remains Nigeria's foremost opposition platform, ready to provide credible alternatives in the democratic process.
