Wike Declares PDP Stronger at Abuja National Convention

During a national convention held at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, declared the People's Democratic Party (PDP) stronger and united following a significant leadership crisis. Addressing approximately 2,000 delegates, Wike emphasized the importance of inclusivity and unity in rebuilding the party's future.

He noted that the PDP had weathered a tragic leadership crisis that threatened its survival, reaffirming the party's foundational principles. Wike commended party members for their resilience during turmoil and called for renewed commitment to the party's ideals.

The convention occurred amid ongoing legal disputes, but Wike's faction adopted a consensus approach to select leadership candidates for the next four years. The PDP's caretaker work committee, reportedly supportive of Wike, ensured the convention proceeded smoothly, despite legal challenges.

Wike urged members to remain focused on the party's goals and extend reconciliation efforts to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
