SWAN Chair Urges Women Accountants to Embrace Mentorship

Bless Osakwe Ogo, the chairperson of the Society of Women Accountants Nigeria (SWAN), urged women accountants to take on leadership roles by mentoring others during a press conference in Lagos. She highlighted the theme of International Women’s Day, "Give, Gain," and emphasized the importance of redefining success to include cultural mentorship and collective contributions.

Osakwe Ogo challenged women to focus on individual acquisition and assert genuine impact through service to others. She noted that the accounting profession provides a unique platform for women to drive institutional change and highlighted the need for women to be active leaders rather than passive participants.

Furthermore, she called for justice and equal rights in the profession, insisting that real progress requires dismantling biases that hinder female professionals. Osakwe Ogo concluded by encouraging women across the nation to remain confident in their qualifications and capabilities to lead.
