Nigerian Sports Community Mourns Rita Chinego Ejidik

Donatu Agu Ejidik, recognized as Nigeria's Pillar of Sports, recently faced the loss of his mother, Rita Chinego Ejidik, who passed away at the age of 94. The funeral took place in Nnewi, Anambra State, and was marked by a mass led by Reverend Dr.

Jona Benson Okoy from the Catholic Diocese of Nnewi. Habu Gumel, President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), expressed condolences on behalf of the Olympic movement in Nigeria, highlighting the impact of Madam Ejidik's life on Nigerian sports.

Isaiah Benjamin, President of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), also conveyed heartfelt condolences, emphasizing the loss felt by the sports community. The event served as a tribute to Rita Ejidik's legacy, with attendees reflecting on her role as a matriarch and a strong support system for her family and the sports sector.
