Cardinal Onaiyekan Critiques Tinubu's Advisors on Nigeria

John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Archbishop Emeritus of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, accused sycophants of presenting President Bola Tinubu with a misleadingly positive view of Nigeria. He made this assertion during an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’ programme, in response to questions regarding a recent meeting between the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) and President Tinubu in Abuja.

Cardinal Onaiyekan expressed concern that many individuals surrounding the President are not providing an accurate representation of the country's realities. He stated, “We felt that indeed, we have the obligation to help him appreciate the reality of the situation in which we find ourselves.” He indicated that the feedback provided to the President was not what he wanted to hear, as evidenced by Tinubu's response during the meeting.
