Sultan Urges Military Action Against Terrorism in Nigeria

The Sultan of Sokoto, leader of the Muslim Ummah in Nigeria, expressed deep concern regarding the resurgence of terrorist attacks in Borno State, questioning whether the nation is relapsing into a troubled period. He made these remarks on Wednesday night while addressing his media team shortly after announcing the end of Ramadan and declaring Friday, March 20, 2026, as Eid el-Fitr.

The Sultan strongly condemned the recent wave of attacks and called on military and security intelligence agencies to intensify their efforts to decisively address the terror insurgency in the country. He urged the redeployment of military and security leadership to go beyond routine exercises and implement proactive measures to confront terrorist strongholds rather than merely reacting to attacks.

The Sultan denounced the violence as un-Islamic and called on the government to demonstrate strong political will to protect citizens' lives and properties. He concluded by extending heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly to the families of victims affected by the attacks.
