Tinubu Vows to Defeat Terrorism After Boko Haram Attack

President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed Nigeria's commitment to defeating terrorism after the tragic killing of Brigadier General Oseni Braimah and other soldiers by Boko Haram in Borno State on April 9, 2026. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the brave soldiers from the 29 Task Force Brigade during a coordinated terrorist attack at Camp Benisheikh.

Tinubu praised the courage and heroism of the soldiers who valiantly repelled the attack and urged military leadership not to be discouraged by the challenges faced in the ongoing war against insurgency. He emphasized the importance of the military's sacrifices and called for continued support from the media, urging them to respect military traditions and avoid celebrating attacks on troops.

The Defence Headquarters confirmed the attack and expressed regret over the loss of gallant soldiers, highlighting the need for due process in notifying families of casualties.
