Tambuwal Blames Nigeria's Economic Woes on Flawed Policies and Calls for Electoral Reforms

Aminu Tambuwal, a former Governor of Sokoto State and current Senator representing Sokoto South, criticized Nigeria's economic woes, attributing them to flawed policies like the sudden removal of fuel subsidies without adequate planning. He emphasized the need for electoral reforms to ensure a fair democratic process, expressing concerns about the erosion of public confidence in elections due to manipulation at various levels.

Tambuwal advocated for nationwide electronic transmission of election results to enhance transparency. He also highlighted the importance of prioritizing competent leadership over personal ambitions in Nigeria's political landscape.

Tambuwal's party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), aims to field a credible candidate like Peter Obi in the 2027 presidential race through transparent primaries. Additionally, Tambuwal raised alarm over the security situation in Sokoto State, warning that without serious electoral and governance reforms, Nigeria risks further alienating its citizens and weakening its democratic foundation.
