Taraba PDP Stays United Amid Internal Crises, Says Bitru

Obidah Bitru, the acting chairman of the Taraba State People's Democratic Party (PDP), stated that the party remains united despite ongoing internal crises impacting the national level. Speaking to journalists in Jalingo on Sunday, Bitru acknowledged disagreements within the party but emphasized that these do not create divisions within the Taraba State chapter.

He referred to the recent congress held in Jalingo, which produced Alhaji Ibrahim Sale Abba as the state chairman of the party's executive committee. The internal crisis stems from disputes over the conduct of the party's convention held in November last year, which led to court challenges from aggrieved factions.

Bitru mentioned that efforts are ongoing to resolve these issues, with the party's board of trustees having held several meetings aimed at finding a solution. He also indicated that a caretaker committee would serve for 21 days until a national convention is conducted to produce legally recognized leadership.

Additionally, he dismissed concerns regarding defections to the APC, noting that some politicians are considering returning to the PDP.
