Taraba University of Tropical Agriculture Receives NUC Approval

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has recognized the Taraba University of Tropical Agriculture, making it the 69th state-owned university and the 313th university in Nigeria. The recognition ceremony took place in Abuja, attended by Governor Agbu Kefa, who expressed the Taraba State government's commitment to expanding access to higher education.

Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the Executive Secretary of NUC, highlighted the university's location on the Mambilla Plateau, which offers opportunities for practical teaching and research in agriculture and environmental studies.

However, he cautioned that the university must undergo resource verification to ascertain the availability of necessary human and material resources before admitting students. Governor Kefa assured that the state government would provide adequate funding and strengthen collaborations with local and international partners to support the new institution's development and sustainability.
