FG Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainable Universities in Nigeria

The Federal Government of Nigeria, represented by Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable universities through the National Advancement Programme (NUAP).

This initiative aims to strengthen institutions and ensure long-term growth in Nigeria's higher education system. During a keynote address at the wrap ceremony for the NUAP training for university officials, Dr.

Alausa emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships with the corporate sector and alumni to unlock new opportunities in research, innovation, and scholarship. The NUAP is designed to complement existing government support for higher education rather than replace it, creating additional pathways for sustainable growth.

The program will establish strategic partnerships with various stakeholders, including the Nigerian Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) and corporate institutions, to enhance financial resilience and expand research opportunities. Wale Adeosun, chairman of NHEF, urged universities to prioritize alumni engagement to ensure sustainable revenue generation.
