The Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christoph Maikalangu, has advised residents and business owners to ignore tax demand notices issued before 2026, stating that payments made based on those notices will not be recognized. Maikalangu emphasized the implementation of automated tax collection to curb revenue leakage and promote transparency.

He urged residents to report any officials demanding cash payments or direct transfers to private accounts, emphasizing that the official payment portal is smarttax.ng. Additionally, Maikalangu warned against impostors posing as revenue officials and highlighted the risks associated with making cash payments to unauthorized accounts.
