Benue State Revenue Service Withdraws Staff from Inspection Points Ahead of Tax Law Implementation

The Benue State Internal Revenue Service (BIRS) has withdrawn its staff from produce inspection points across Benue State in compliance with the Nigeria Tax Law 2025, effective December 31, 2025. The decision was made following an emergency meeting held by the executive chairman and management officials of BIRS.

The new tax law, set to take effect on January 1, 2026, prohibits tax authorities from mounting roadblocks for revenue collection purposes. BIRS emphasized the need to comply with the directive and urged the public to take note of the state's efforts to fully implement the new tax law.
