RMAFC Chairman Advocates for Taxpayer Protection in Reforms

Dr. Mohammed Shehu, the chairman of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), stated that tax reforms must prioritize the protection of taxpayers and guarantee equitable revenue allocation across various levels of government.

During a visit from the Joint Revenue Board (JRB) led by Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, Shehu reaffirmed RMAFC's commitment to promoting transparency and fair accountability within Nigeria's revenue administration system.

He noted the necessity of collaboration among institutions responsible for revenue generation and administration to achieve the objectives of ongoing reforms. Shehu addressed concerns regarding new tax regimes, including tax refunds and electronic money transfers.

He emphasized the importance of continuous dialogue and technical engagement to ensure a fair and efficient tax system. Adesokan highlighted the need for a framework that benefits taxpayers and supports the nation’s fiscal stability.

The meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between RMAFC and JRB to ensure successful implementation of the new tax framework.
