RMAFC Advocates Tax Reforms for Fair Revenue Allocation

The Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), led by Chairman Dr. Mohammed Shehu, has stated that tax reforms must prioritize the protection of taxpayers and guarantee equitable revenue allocation across various levels of government.

During a meeting with a delegation from the Joint Revenue Board (JRB), headed by Executive Secretary Mr. Olusegun Adesokan, Shehu reaffirmed the commission's commitment to transparency and fair accountability in Nigeria's revenue administration.

The RMAFC aims to collaborate with relevant institutions to ensure compliance with existing laws governing revenue allocation and to address concerns regarding new tax regimes, including tax refunds and electronic transfer taxation. The commission anticipates significant improvements in revenue collection and fiscal efficiency over the next five to six years.

Additionally, the newly established office of the Tax Ombud, led by Dr. John Nwabuez, aims to provide relief to taxpayers facing unfair tax assessments.
