TCN Inspects Abuja Independent Power Plant Progress

On February 18, 2026, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), led by Executive Director of Transmission Services, Engr. Dr.

Oluwagbenga Ajiboy, conducted an inspection of the Abuja Independent Power Plant project located in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The visit aimed to assess the project's progress and obtain firsthand information regarding its generation capacity and the timeline for commissioning.

According to a statement from GM Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, the inspection was crucial for ensuring the plant's integration into the national grid and facilitating technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor. The Abuja Independent Power Plant is expected to deliver 350MW as part of the NNPC's initiative to power the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline, with a commissioning timeline set for December 2026.
