TCN Inspects Abuja Independent Power Plant Construction

On December 6, 2026, a team from the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), led by Executive Director of Transmission Services Provider, Engr. Dr.

Oluwagbenga Ajiboye, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction work at the Abuja Independent Power Plant project located in Gwagwalada, Abuja. The visit aimed to assess the project's progress and obtain firsthand information regarding its generation capacity and commissioning timeline.

The power plant is expected to integrate with the national grid and provide opportunities for technical discussions between TCN engineers and the project contractor to reinforce coordination ahead of the December 2026 commissioning. The Abuja Independent Power Plant, constructed by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), is projected to deliver 350 megawatts of power as part of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) gas pipeline project.
