TCN Launches Campaign to Protect Power Installations in Ebonyi

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) launched a community sensitization campaign in Ebonyi State, specifically in Umuhuali, Ezillo, and Nkalagu, to combat the rising incidents of vandalism affecting its power installations. Dr.

Thomas Inugonum, General Manager of TCN's Enugu Region, emphasized the need for stronger community relations to protect TCN's infrastructure. The campaign highlighted five critical areas requiring immediate community intervention, including the dangers posed by illegal structures within TCN's right-of-way and the excavation of soil around transmission tower bases.

Dr. Inugonum referenced a tragic incident involving an unidentified vandal who attempted to electrocute individuals at a tower in Ezillo.

He also noted the recent arrest of two vandals who dismantled vital components of the Nkalagu-Abakaliki 132kV transmission line. The campaign concluded with community leaders pledging to collaborate with TCN and security agencies to safeguard power installations.
