TCN Commissions 300MVA Transformer at Egbin Substation

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) successfully commissioned a new 300MVA transformer at the Egbin substation located in Lagos State on February 22, 2025. This addition increases the substation's total capacity from 300MVA to 450MVA, significantly improving the availability of bulk electricity for the Ikeja Electric Distribution Company.

The Egbin substation plays a vital role in ensuring power transmission in a region characterized by a large population and a growing number of businesses. According to Ndidi Mbah, the General Manager of Public Affairs at TCN, the upgrade will directly benefit customers in Ikorodu, Shagamu, Ijede, and surrounding areas, enhancing the reliability of power supply and supporting economic growth.

Adeshina Adeonipekun, the General Manager of Transmission in the Lagos region, noted that the project was completed in just six weeks, reflecting TCN's commitment to strengthening the national grid and ensuring reliable power delivery across Nigeria.
