TCN Delivers Transformers to Boost Kaduna Power Supply

On March 5, 2026, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) announced the delivery of two power transformers to the Jaja and Jaji transmission substations located in Kaduna State. The company revealed that it received two 150MVA 330/132/33kV power transformers for the Jaja substation in Kudan Local Government Area and two 66MVA 132/33kV power transformers for the Jaji substation in Igabi Local Government Area on March 2, 2026.

This project is strategically designed to enhance power supply reliability and expand transmission capacity across the northwest region of Nigeria. Funded by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the project is at an advanced stage.

Once completed, the Jaja 330/132/33kV transmission substation will connect to the 330kV Kano transmission line, significantly reinforcing the transmission capacity in the region. The new substations are expected to reduce power outages, improve voltage stability, and ensure reliable bulk electricity supply to distribution load centers, benefiting customers across Kano State and neighboring areas amidst ongoing power challenges.
