TCN Launches $1.3bn Nationwide Power Projects

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has disclosed that it is currently overseeing transmission projects valued at over $1.3 billion, funded by various multilateral development partners. These projects aim to expand grid capacity and strengthen power delivery nationwide.

TCN's efforts include the Nigeria Electrification Transmission Project, valued at $486 million, which focuses on enhancing critical transmission lines and substations. Other significant projects include a $170 million initiative in Abuja and a $200 million project for the northern corridor to improve bulk power evacuation.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) is contributing $210 million towards the Nigeria Transmission Expansion Project, while the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is funding the Lagos-Ogun Power Transmission Project with $235 million. TCN is also pursuing a digital transformation initiative to automate and integrate its operations, which includes deploying an enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution and enhancing its ICT infrastructure across eight regional offices.
