Team Nigeria Arrives in Botswana for World Athletics Relays

Team Nigeria has successfully arrived in Botswana for the 2026 World Athletics Relays, with their journey commencing from Lagos on Monday via Ethiopian Airlines. The delegation departed in the early hours and is expected to reach Gaborone after a two-leg journey, including a stopover in Addis Ababa and a brief stop in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

The team is led by Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) Secretary Israel Inwang, with sprinter Enoch Adegoke and Ezekiel Asuquo concluding logistical arrangements. The Nigerian team will compete in six relay events scheduled for May 2-3, having received approval from World Athletics to enter the full program.

The championship serves as a qualifying route for the 2027 World Athletics Championship in Beijing. Notably, sprinter Favor Ash has joined the Lagos camp, enhancing the team’s prospects.

The Nigerian contingent will include teams for men’s and women’s 4x100m, 4x400m, and mixed relay events, with Patience Okon Georg leading the women’s team.
