Alcaraz Withdraws from Cincinnati Open Due to Injury

Carlos Alcaraz has officially withdrawn from the Cincinnati Open, scheduled for August 13-23, due to an ongoing wrist injury, as confirmed by the event organizers. This withdrawal raises fresh doubts regarding his fitness ahead of his U.S.

Open title defense, which begins on August 30. Alcaraz, a seven-time Grand Slam champion, has been out of action since he withdrew from the second round of the Barcelona Open in April.

Last year, he won the Cincinnati title after world number one Jannik Sinner retired from the final, which propelled him to victory at the U.S. Open, marking his second title there following his triumph in 2022.

Alcaraz started the season strong by winning the Australian Open, becoming the youngest man to complete the career Grand Slam. In his absence from Cincinnati, Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon title, increasing his major titles to five.
