Jannik Sinner Withdraws from US Open Due to Injury

Jannik Sinner, the world number one, has withdrawn from the US Open due to a right knee complaint that has affected him since his victory at Wimbledon. His withdrawal raises questions about the challenging schedule in tennis and its impact on players' fitness.

Carlos Alcaraz is the only player to have participated in all four major events this year. Former ATP winner Ryan Harrison commented on the issue, stating that the demanding schedule, which can involve playing 50 to 70 matches in the first eight months of the year, may be too taxing for players.

He also noted that slow courts and balls are leading to longer rallies, further increasing the physical demands on players. Sinner is among seven men who have withdrawn from the US Open, contributing to a total of 33 Grand Slam withdrawals in 2026, surpassing the total from 2025.

The US Open is set to begin on August 30, and more withdrawals may occur before the event starts.
