Alcaraz Aims for Cincinnati Open Return After Injury

Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked world number three, is preparing for his return from a wrist injury at the Cincinnati Open, which will take place from August 13 to 23. Alcaraz last played on tour in April and had to withdraw from both the French Open and Wimbledon, missing the chance to defend his title at Roland Garros.

He will not participate in the Canadian Open, another Masters tournament held in Montreal from August 2 to 13. The 20-year-old intends to compete in the Cincinnati Open to prove his readiness for the US Open, the final Grand Slam of the year, which begins on August 30.

Alcaraz is the title holder of the Cincinnati Open, having won the event last year before Jannik Sinner, who has claimed five Masters 1000 titles this year, retired in the final. Notably, Emma Raducanu will not compete in Cincinnati due to a lower leg injury sustained at Wimbledon.
