Tension Rises as Gunmen Abduct Lawmaker in Plateau State

In Plateau State, gunmen abducted prominent lawmaker Laven Denty Jacob from his residence in Angwan Kagji North LGA. Jacob represents Pankshin South constituency in the state house assembly.

The abduction, part of a series of attacks in central and northern Nigeria, occurred on a Monday night, causing tension in the community. The Plateau State Police Command confirmed the incident, reflecting the prevalent insecurity in the region.

President Bola Tinubu's administration has prioritized tackling insecurity since May 2023, with armed criminal gangs frequently perpetrating kidnappings for ransom in the country. The abduction adds to the ongoing security challenges faced by the government in the region.
