EFCC Raid Sparks Student Protests at Kwara Polytechnic

On Wednesday, tension gripped Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin following a raid by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which sparked panic among students during examinations. Eyewitnesses reported confusion as students began to run in different directions, fearing that operatives were chasing them.

This fear escalated, leading to protests where students burned tires along the Old Jebba Road. The management of the polytechnic confirmed that the EFCC's operations did not occur on campus but in the nearby Agbed Village, which contributed to the students' concerns.

They reassured the public that no students were arrested during the operation and that the situation was contained without escalation. The institution emphasized its commitment to maintaining a safe academic environment and urged the public to resume normal activities.

The EFCC's Ilorin zonal command did not respond to requests for comments at the time of the report.
