Lagos Mainland APC Rejects Automatic Ticket for Incumbent

The Lagos Mainland chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Dotun Omisakin, has firmly rejected the notion of granting an automatic ticket to the incumbent, Moshood Olanrewaju Oshun, as they prepare for the 2027 elections. The party emphasized the importance of adhering to internal democratic processes.

A recent political activity conducted by a group known as Mainland Voice involved a shadow primary to gauge support among aspirants for the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives. The exercise featured four aspirants: Kazeem K.

Omolaja, who received 44 votes; Rasheedat Omolola Essien with 26 votes; Oshun with eight votes; and Mr. Sawyer, who did not secure any valid votes.

Despite the results, party stakeholders clarified that this exercise does not replace the official party primary. The APC leadership has made it clear that there will be no consensus arrangements, and all aspirants will be required to contest in a transparent process.

The Ebut Metta West platform has also rejected attempts to impose a consensus candidate, advocating for equal opportunities for all aspirants.
