Defence Minister Claims Terrorism Reduced in Nigeria

During an interview on Friday, the Nigerian Defence Minister Musa announced that terrorism has drastically reduced across Nigeria, claiming an overall security performance improvement of 65-70%. He acknowledged that no nation is completely free of crime, noting that incidents of terrorism and kidnapping still occur.

Musa attributed the security challenges to the erosion of family values and a societal inclination towards quick wealth rather than hard work. He expressed concern over politically motivated criminal acts aimed at portraying the government as weak and the country as ungovernable.

Despite these challenges, he maintained that the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies are making sustained efforts to tackle insecurity. Musa urged Nigerians to appreciate the progress made and emphasized the importance of societal education on the value of hard work over shortcuts.

He also mentioned that kidnappers often have no substantial offers to make, suggesting that their actions are politically motivated to undermine the government.
