Tinubu Secures French Military Aid for Nigeria's Security

President Bola Tinubu announced a military assistance deal with France aimed at bolstering Nigeria's fight against terrorism. This development came after extensive discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting held at the Ikoyi residence in Lagos on Saturday, following Tinubu's return from a two-day state visit to the United Kingdom.

The President emphasized the need for Nigeria to leverage existing goodwill and credit lines to acquire essential military equipment and training for security forces. He highlighted the ongoing security challenges, including threats from Boko Haram and other insurgent groups, and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to investing in technology and logistics to defeat terrorism.

The announcement followed a tragic bombing in Maiduguri that killed 23 people and injured 108 others. Tinubu directed security chiefs to enhance counter-terrorism capabilities and approved additional equipment for operations.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is also involved in addressing the situation, visiting victims of the recent attack.
