U.S. Military Aids Nigeria in Combatting Terrorism

In an interview at the Ministry of Defence headquarters in Abuja, Gen. Christoph Musa, Nigeria's Chief of Defence Staff, addressed the presence of U.S. military personnel in Nigeria, which is part of a formal agreement to support Nigeria in training and modernizing its military technology.

This collaboration aims to strengthen the fight against terrorism and insecurity, particularly in regions like Bauchi State. Musa noted that the U.S. military's role is strictly advisory and focused on training, with no combat troop activities involved.

He confirmed the arrival of 100 U.S. military personnel at the Bauchi airfield, following discussions between Nigerian and U.S. defense officials. The partnership is designed to improve the capabilities of Nigerian security forces in detecting and neutralizing terrorist threats.

Musa assured that this arrangement respects Nigeria's sovereignty and is intended for a short duration, with clear terms outlined in the agreement.
