Bandits Kill 20 Security Operatives in Plateau Ambush

On Friday, a joint patrol team consisting of military personnel and local vigilantes was ambushed by heavily armed bandits in the Garga area of Kanam Local Government Area, Plateau State, resulting in the deaths of 20 security operatives. The casualties included 12 security personnel, two senior military officers, and eight vigilante members who were assisting in community protection.

The ambush occurred around 2:00 PM as the patrol team was traveling in two vehicles for routine security operations. The Kada Association, represented by its chairman Garba G.

Aliyu, expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and condemned the ongoing attacks by bandits in the region. They highlighted the need for immediate government action, including the deployment of additional military personnel to establish a permanent security presence in the area.

The association also called for relief support for affected residents who have lost homes and livestock due to the violence, emphasizing the urgent need to address the deteriorating security situation.
