Nigerian Presidency Acknowledges Possible Terrorist Infiltration

Daniel Bwala, a special adviser to the Nigerian Presidency, stated that there may be one or two agents of terrorists within the Nigerian Army and other security agencies. He acknowledged isolated cases of infiltration and collaboration but dismissed claims that military personnel deliberately shield terrorists during attacks.

Bwala emphasized that such allegations are speculative and not substantiated by evidence. He referenced the example of Edward Snowden, a former U.S. intelligence contractor, to illustrate that infiltration can occur even in advanced countries.

Bwala also discussed the influence of external forces on Nigeria's security challenges, recalling protests in northern Nigeria where demonstrators displayed Russian flags and called for intervention from Russian President Vladimir Putin. He noted that these developments indicate that Nigeria's security issues may extend beyond its borders.

Additionally, Bwala highlighted disagreements between the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Air Force during Muhammadu Buhari's administration, which he claimed weakened counter-terror operations.
