Opposition Demands Action Against Terrorism in Nigeria

Opposition political parties in Nigeria, including the Social Democratic Party, African Democratic Congress, and Young Progressives Party, have criticized President Bola Tinubu's administration for its failure to tackle the country's worsening insecurity. They claim that terrorist groups have infiltrated Nigeria's security architecture, calling for urgent reforms and thorough investigations into security personnel allegedly collaborating with terrorists.

Daniel Bwala, a special adviser to the President on policy communication, emphasized the need for reform and acknowledged the government's introduction of measures to address internal threats, although he withheld specific details. Reports have emerged of soldiers going missing and potentially being overpowered by Boko Haram fighters during an attack in Geidam, Yobe State.

The opposition parties argue that the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, bears primary responsibility for national security and must address the situation publicly. Rufu Aiyenigba of the Social Democratic Party described the developments as a reflection of governmental failure.
