The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has announced the allocation of N7.5 billion in grants to 174 research teams from various Nigerian tertiary institutions. This funding is part of the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) grant cycle, which underwent a highly competitive selection process.

TETFund's Executive Secretary, Sonni Echono, disclosed that the grants range from N13,698,897 to N49,979,826, covering critical thematic areas such as health, social welfare, agriculture, food security, sustainable use of natural resources, and technology innovation. The Federal University of Technology, Minna emerged as the highest beneficiary with 18 successful grants, followed by the Federal University of Technology, Owerri with 11 grants, and Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria with 10 grants.

Other notable institutions include the University of Ilorin and Bayero University, Kano. The rigorous selection process involved the submission and evaluation of concept notes and full research proposals, culminating in the announcement of successful projects.

Echono congratulated the successful institutions and urged scholars to prepare for the 2026 NRF grant cycle.
