TETFund Grants N7.5bn to 174 Research Teams in Nigeria

The Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has awarded N7.5 billion in research grants to 174 research teams as part of the 2025 National Research Fund (NRF) cycle. The announcement was made during a press briefing in Abuja by the Executive Secretary.

The selection process involved rigorous screening, including concept note evaluations and oral defenses. The research grants focus on national priority areas such as health, social welfare, agriculture, food security, sustainable use of natural resources, and technology innovation.

The Federal University of Technology Minna topped the list with 18 grants, followed by the Federal University of Technology Owerri with 11, and Ahmadu Bello University with 10. Other notable institutions include the University of Ilorin, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, and the University of Ibadan.

The Executive Secretary congratulated the successful teams and announced that the process for the 2026 NRF grant cycle will commence soon, urging scholars to submit their concept notes for the next round of awards.
