TETFund Bars Institutions with Abandoned Projects

The Board of Trustees of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) has declared that tertiary institutions with delayed or abandoned TETFund-funded projects will not be permitted to access new intervention projects under the 2027 allocation cycle unless they complete the outstanding projects. Chairman Aminu Masari communicated this in a statement on Wednesday, signed by Head of Public Relations Abdulmumin Oniyangi.

The board's decision follows persistent delays in project execution despite previous interventions. Masari noted that while external factors like fluctuating construction material prices contributed to delays, a special intervention line introduced in 2023 has successfully helped many institutions complete their projects.

However, new cases of delays are still being reported, attributed to institutional leadership and administrative issues rather than funding. Masari emphasized that TETFund projects should not be hindered by internal bureaucracy and politics.

The board has mandated beneficiary institutions to compile lists of projects that have exceeded completion timelines.
