TETFUND Launches 2026 National Research Fair Committee

On Friday in Abuja, Arc Sonni Echono, the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), inaugurated the 2026 National Research Fair/Exhibition Committee. This initiative aims to broaden participation and enhance the commercialization of research findings, thereby strengthening collaboration between academia, industry, and investors.

The committee's formation follows the success of the inaugural event held in November 2024, which showcased innovations from tertiary institutions. The reconstituted committee includes representatives from the private sector, inventors, and relevant ministries, with a focus on deepening collaboration and widening participation.

Echono emphasized the importance of compiling a comprehensive database of research outputs from universities and polytechnics to select technologies for future exhibitions. The fair aims to attract experts from Africa and beyond, with the goal of stimulating job creation and promoting local manufacturing.

Engr Umar Bindir, the committee chairman, commended the expanded committee composition, which includes leaders from the research and industry sectors.
