Tinubu: Nigeria's Fuel Prices Cheaper Than Kenya's

During a speech on Thursday in Yenagoa, President Bola Tinubu claimed that fuel prices in Nigeria are more favorable compared to those in Kenya and other African nations. He acknowledged the economic challenges currently facing Nigerians, particularly the rising cost of fuel, which has been a significant concern amid the ongoing economic situation.

Tinubu emphasized that despite these challenges, Nigerians should be grateful that their fuel prices are better than those in Kenya, where the price stood at approximately 1.37 per liter in April 2026, translating to around N1,862. He noted that fuel prices in the United States and Israel have also seen increases, with prices ranging from N1,290 to N1,350 per liter.

The fluctuations in global crude oil prices, hovering around $95 to $100 per barrel over the past six weeks, have led to increased domestic fuel pump prices, as reflected by the actions of depot owners and Dangote Refinery.
