Akpabio and Jibrin Lead 10th Senate's Legislative Achievements

The 10th Senate of Nigeria, inaugurated in June 2023 under Senate President Godswill Akpabio, representing Akwa Ibom North-West, and Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin from Kano North, has made notable legislative strides. Their leadership has focused on aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, facilitating critical legislation that directly affects citizens' lives.

Key laws passed include the National Minimum Wage Amendment Act, which raises the minimum wage from ₦30,000 to ₦70,000, and the Students Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act, establishing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund. Other significant interventions include amendments to the Electricity Act and the National Social Investment Programmes Act.

The Senate's economic agenda also encompasses taxation and revenue administration reforms through the Nigeria Tax Bill and related legislation. As of April 29, 1,033 Senate bills were in process, with 106 bills passed by April 23, showcasing the Senate's active legislative role.
