NECO Investigates Widespread Exam Malpractices in 38 Schools Across 13 States

The 2025 NECO exam witnessed widespread malpractices, prompting the National Examinations Council (NECO) to investigate misconduct in 38 schools across 13 states during the Senior School Certificate Examination. The malpractices included cheating, collusion, bribery, and impersonation, posing a significant risk to the credibility of exam results.

NECO Registrar Ibrahim Wushishi recommended blacklisting nine supervisors for poor supervision. Despite the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999, weak oversight and societal pressures contribute to the prevalence of such misconduct.
